I'm totally a wholemeal eater for all my carbage, the benefits over white are significant.
However, they definitely sit in your stomach longer (although I believe it gets stuck in the lower intestine post stomachness. Google it there are some studies available). Really though this is just about eating what I know won't cause too much indigestion. If I ate whole grain after being on small amounts of liquids and fruits only, my currently delicate little tum-tum would reject it ... violently. No dairy because about 30 mins after I'd get acid in the throat.
I never even knew I had any prob. until I went to Uni. No processed foods in my parents' house. Don't know what's going on down there I discussed it with some Doc's over the years. To find out I'd have to undergo some pretty invasive investigation at the end of which they'd probably still have no clue and start throwing badly toxic tablets at me. Alternatively I just have to live reasonably healthily. So fuck all that Dr stuff, I don't want to take non-recreational chem's every day, especially pharm's.
Apologies Mark for jacking your thread.
Peace,
kowalski
