She flicked them away one after another. Naturally I asked for more information on this, approach dynamics being something I am fascinated with. She listed a few of the lines, one of which was some guy coming up to her saying 'Ten ton polar bear.... Ten ton polar bear... Ten ton polar bear.......... Well, it broke the ice.'

That's my problem with cheesy lines. As PUAs, we're working on finding new ways to approach girls, and to be successful. The whole point of an opinion opener is to wedge you into a set 'under the radar', so to speak, and to find ways of holding that first 2 minutes of conversation before the real pick up work begins. The whole point of an RSD style direct opener - 'Hey, who are you?' - is to go in blatantly on the radar. The dynamic there is that the girl is impressed with your confidence and plain speaking.

The subtext of a cheesy line is 'I'd like to pick you up, so if you like the look of me then please say so and we can talk for a while. If not, I can still eject saying what a great joke I just played on you'. This is pretty low value.

There's a reason the PUA community reccommends ways around cheesy openers. Its because every AFC under the sun uses the exact same lines, and on any given night, any girl is forever having guys come up to her and recite these things. She will get used to flicking these guys away, one after the other.

As a PUA, its your job to work ways around this, and to make sure you're different to those guys.
....orrrr you could just chill and do or say what ever you feel like saying. Cheesy lines can be fun to do, if you're aware they are cheesy, and if you're not actually using it to impress a girl. And when you're starting out like my mate monkeybuster, then cheesy lines are good cos you get to learn what works and what doesn't work, or what doesn't work more so in this case. Just so long as you don't use the 'your mum must have stole the stars out of the sky put them in your eyes' line then it's all good. But even that would be pretty funny actually, I might use it!
