Joking aside: BT does £5/month for free calls to most Europe Landlines, UK and Aust. Im not sure if Spain does the same. Worth checking. Failling that, Im sure you can get access numbers to call any landlines/mobiles in the world for a few cents.

I will ask my Spanish friend if she knows the best way. Will let you know.
