Default Thanks, but no thanks! - 15-04-2009, 08:08 AM

Yo,

I've used the funky new Thanks feature a bunch of times. However, all the people I've thanked still show 0 in their Thanked field.

Thanks in advance

Peace

Right, Ill sort this out. The idea is that the quality of peoples post goes up. Especially those who want access to file sharing (still working on that too).

Thanks!

I think this is an excellent feature. It will certainly assist new members in knowing which respondees give valuable / reliable advice.

I don't know if this is possible:

It would be very helpfull if people could see who thanked who and for which posts.
This would help in three ways. Firstly, knowing which posts were usefull to others would enable you to understand why some of your posts are helpfull, while others are not. Over time this will result in a higher standard of post. Secondly, it will enable users to see if a particular member's advice is welcomed by all, just by other members with similar styles, or if they are merely being electronically sucked off by their bezzie mate. Thirdly, members will be able to identify classic posts of pure genius that are worthy of carefull consideration. The results could also be used to help populate a classic posts section in the future.

Hope this is possible.

Peace

Good suggestions mate, I may add some stats such as 'Most thanked posts ever' or 'most thanked member' or something.

If you look at the bottom of a post where someone's been thanked, it shows there. If you see a post with shitloads of thanks below it, you know that it must be a good post of value. I've seen this on another forum and it really does encourage people to put effort into posts and share valuable information, as they get rewarded for it by the community!

Cool man, I didn't spot the bit at the bottom of the post.

To illustrate the need to have the posts you have been thanked for listed the same way you can list all the posts someone has made, I have currently been thanked in 4 posts. Without scouring the site and checking the almost 400 posts I have made one by one (which I have no intention of doing), I have no idea who thanked me and for what. Therefore, I have no idea which of my posts has been valuable to others, and can not use this metric to increase the usefulness of my posts.

It's like being given individual marks for your essays at the end of the academic year, and not being told which mark is for which essay.

If a listing is not possible, maybe using the 'thank' button could trigger a PM including a link to or thread title of where you were thanked. As I have seen on other sites.

Peace
