Night out with the ex -
07-08-2011, 10:13 PM
Well, I thought I would write you guys a field report. Its been a strange couple days for me.
Heres the background, a girl I went out with a couple years ago my "one" and I met up for a night out, we had just got back in contact and have met up a couple times.
Well the night starts great, we go to a bar and have a few drinks and a good chat. Then a guy she knows tags along with us, he is out at the bar himself and is obviously fancying her. He stayed with us the whole night and it was annoying as hell.
I wasnt able to control the conversation at all times, the things they were talking about were to nerdy for me and just not interesting. So we go to a club with dancing. I take her had and take her to the dance floor. Things are going great with us. But then I made a big mistake and had a few drinks to many. Active playful fun turns into tired, wrestless and ill.
We leave the club and head to a bar, by this time I am not having a good time and I am losing the game, I cant be assed with the tag along anymore so I grab my coat and go stand outside. She comes to look for me and I tell her I want to go now, when I went back into the bar I saw he giving some guy in the bar her number. I am pissed off and I made the mistake of bringing it up with her. So we go back to hers which is where I am staying. I try to escalate to f close but it just isn't happening , seeing as we have history we had a talk about it. She says she misses me but isnt interested "that way" because her head is screwed up. I told her to take her time and get her head together, the next morning I leave, even though she wanted me to stay another night. I told her that with the barriers she's putting up there is no point in me staying because I have work I should be doing.
She says again that shes attracted to me but shes "frozen over" and put up "barriers".
So I told her to take some time for herself and get her head together.
Since then she text me last night, but nothing major. Just chit chat. At this point in time I am considering a freeze out. Its effecting my frame of mind and I have work to do.
An outside insight would be much appreciated guys
Cheers

Was this night out with your ex a 'date' or just a night out?
I presume she was under the impression that it wasn't a date, otherwise why would she give the guy her number? Also, maybe she gave him her number cos she wanted him to get out of her face. How do you know she didn't give him a fake number too?
I could go on with suggesting even more perfectly valid reasons for why she did this, but you get where i'm coming from. It never is black and white when you have feelings for a bird.
Its clear you still feel something for her mate, unfortunately from what you have said in the post, she either doesn't feel the same or has other issues going on in her life that prevents her from giving you a definitive answer. I nor anyone on here can tell you what you need to do/say to swing the outcome in your favour, but at the end of the day, you gotta ask yourself "why is she my ex and not my girlfriend?". Nostalgia often clouds a guys true judgment for a woman who he has had a strong emotional attachment with.
Personally I think you should never get back with an ex, you broke up for a reason or multiple reasons, theres too much baggage involved and if you can't be 'just friends' then its best to remove them from your life completely.

First thing is, if she was getting bothered by someone and wanted to get rid of him she might just say straight away that she is out with someone. No need tto make things complicated by giving a fake number.
Secondly if this girl was interested she would had het rid of "tag along" by herself.
All you need is ignorance and confidence and the success is sure.

It is really easy to just disappear off the radar from people. Block from social networking sites. Delete their number (or keep it so you know who to ignore), I even go a step further and try to stay away from places you know they often visit.
My ex practically lives in the large Tesco near my house, so I avoid it at all costs. I seriously don't wana bump into her..
Edit:
Agree with previous posts, ditch the ex, move on. Its never worth it. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS REMEMBER, EX FOR A REASON!

Avoiding places you want to go though just because of an ex is a bit much though.
