No, it wasn't pride or image. Check maestro's post and mine after it, here, again, is what it is...

It was to do with wanting a specific outcome more than I wanted to be myself. I didn't care what anyone saw me as so long as I achieved the desired outcome (i.e. pull the girl). I thought fetching the chair would reduce the probability of achieving the desired outcome, so I didn't fetch it.

this is to do with human innate need to move toward the future you planned out. its easier for your mind to move down a path its considered than have to change to something new, which is why people tend to be control freaks.

this is why we get o caught up with break ups because we have already pre determined a future & its being changed & ur body is adapting.

i think ur body chemically prepares it self for an outcome that you set.

do not make a habit of this, it will get boring very quickly
