I had an interview in a town 30 miles away on friday. So i went there, had the interview, & it went really well so i decided to stay in town for a few hours & have a few drinks.

The first place i went was buzzing with people on lunch breaks having dinner. So i got myself a stella & sat at a table in the center of the room. It wasnt appropriate to approach people who are eating so i just enjoyed my pint while fluff talking to the waitresses about the nightlife in this town, where to go thats good etc. 3 quick pints later i get up to go for a piss & almost fall flat on my face cos i forgot i was sitting on a high stool, which made me look like i was wasted. So i eject from the venue to avoid the embarrassment of being asked to leave.

The second bar i go to has a cute chick working who after ordering a pint tells me they have a "no hat policy" so i take it off & she's like sorry about that i dont make the rules but i tell her to chill its fine. Some guy in a suit a few seats away at the bar is drinking a cappuccino so i take the piss telling him ive never seen someone at a bar drinking coffee. Fluff talking with everyone, barmen/women, manager, customers.

Then this lovely little 7/10 chick comes in & sits two chairs away from me i smile at her as if she has just made my day & she says hi. Immediately hit it off ive got plenty to say cos im new around here & taking an interest in what she has to tell me about the place so we have a nice little vibe going on. I move & sit beside her i can tell she likes this cos her face lights up i feel like going in for a kiss but its 50/50 & i could end up looking really stupid so i hold back.

20 minutes later we are still vibing & i tell her it feels like we have met before, she tells me "technically we have, cos i told you we have a no hat policy & served you your first pint!" she had just finished her shift & came for a drink herself. We both lol'ing big time & rather than feel stupid about this i think its rather cool.

So Eventually its time for her to go & we saying goodbye nice to meet you maybe see you around good luck. But 5 minutes later im thinking "you dick dan, u could have got her number but you DIDNT!" But she works in this bar so its still possible to get it so i say to myself fuck it & ask her mate/work buddy can she give me her number. She said she cant just give me it but then she called her for me & asked her if its ok to pass it on & i told her that since im probably gunna be spending more time around here we should hang out & that i'll leave my number at the bar for her & then if she wants to contact me its up to her.

I realise she can easily ignore me & not bother calling but the only real point of this is that i have the balls to go for it & that i took the chance & salvaged it. Even if she doesnt call or text im happy that i went for it cos a few months ago i dont think i would have but now its no big deal.

Yes you should have asked her for the number straight away. Being honest once you miss the window it is hard. Which town you went to btw?

I live in Dungannon (shit pubs, shit people, shit nightlife) & went to Omagh. The change of scenery was great and it made me realize i need to get outta my hometown a lot more often.

Cool, I'm living in Lisburn at the moment. It's not very far from your place. Never been to Omagh though. I will try it next weekend.

The only reason i was in Omagh was cos of an interview, not that ive never been there before cos i used to hang around there when i was younger but not in clubs, was too young.

Try Belfast mate, that place rocks. I been living here since nov. yea I have been told stories about lol.

I cant wait to get down around Belfast, was even gunna move there before i'd a child on the way but hopefully i still am gunna eventually.

Dungannon is awful, i dont even feel comfortable goin out anywer in it.

It's time to consider why it is you think you will feel stupid. What are you afraid of here? Getting numbers is a nonsense compared to what you could have done in this moment.

Cos i had gone thru 5 strong quick pints & even tho i didnt think i was too wasted yet, it was only 5 in the evening & it didnt feel appropriate to do it.

HOWEVER, it is something ive learned from cos we had a nice vibe going on & i also had nothin to lose, wont make same mistake again.
