Default fat loss cardio - 16-04-2011, 09:54 PM

I'm still in a mega cutting phase, with another 5lb to lose.
Just wondered how much cardio most people do to lose fat. Currently I'm burning 300-500 cals (30-50mins) per session, 3-4 sessions per week.

By the way, my diet is bang on.

i was told today

put a tread mill on ful incline full speed and do it for 1 min

rest 1 min and do it 10 times, then stop... once u go past a certain point the cardio wastes the hard earned muscle.

quick impact cardio raises ur metabolic rate, peep ment to be gettin sick results

Yeah it doesn't stress the adrenal glands so much, but you get huge benefits. Just compare a sprinter's body to a long distance runner's. I do it outside tho so I don't have to bugger about with the machine settings. I only do 15 secs sprint (full out), 30 secs jog, repeat times 10. Plus a 5 min warm up jog and 5 min warm down jog either side of strength training, and I go for a 1 hour walk and listen to audio books on my rest days. The model of extensive cardio is under debate these days, personally I don't like too much of it. You can do metabolic stuff too, such as jumping onto something sturdy that's about 1m high (maybe a bit less), go from a semi squat, swing your arms and fling yourself up, landing "quietly" (get's the ankle hinge and bum working properly), do the reverse to get back down with the same characteristics to the original start position. Repeat 20 times. Brutal if overdone, use this explosive stuff with care.

Yes that's HIIT. I do a bit every now and again. I should really base my workout on it. But that's kinda irrelevant.

caloric excess = losing weight.

so if you're not shifting a lb/a week, cut some food out or hit another 30 mins of cardio every so often. everyones body is different but the scales rarely lie on your weight loss progress.

There are lot of cardio exercises but in my opinion running is best cardio exercise for fat burning. It makes the belly flat and fat free. I do it regularly and i suggest everyone to do it.

If I put the treadmill in our gym at full incline, I would fall off it. It goes that steep!!

According to my personal experience Running play a vital role to burn the extra fat of the body. Running burn 90 calories in 50 minutes. It also very effective to increase the stamina of the body.

Hi- I dont do cardio, so cant really give advice
Maybe try varying your diet, for example (I do low carbs for 7days and a high carb meal) so maybe I'd do low carbs (10g or less a day),for a fewdays, but then try very low calories one day, or high on a busy day....to stop your metabolism getting stagnant

I truly believe nutrition is 80%....so look into that more than the exercise and check out Vince Gironda
