I may be the only one that thinks that's funny, but I do.
Now you can see why I am studying PUA. I may look good, be smart, and interesting.....however, I'm a nerd. Like most people, I have ups and downs. When I get down, I get a little neurotic about my problems.

I have started to apply pick up skills and have gone from a 1 a year closing average with women to a 1 a month.....and I'm barely more than an AFC. What is it, RAFC. most of my success has been online. Which before discovering PUA, I got no responses online for 6 months.

up until last week, the quality of women that I get have been low. they either look nowhere near attractive as what I deserve, or they were psycho (not in the women are nuts way, but really crazy). The one last week was just a first meet, but she is truly a high value HB. I don't mind it taking a while.

I do get interested in things that don't always matter for the overall success with PU like what are the closing averages of noob to MPUA (anyone? In the experience of the pros that have been here a while....once you give an AFC a basic system, on average, how many does he typically open of the ones he approaches. Out of that how many does he typically stick out through the main points of a pickup. How many does he close. Same goes for a competent PUA. Does the noob w/ a system close 1 out of 10? 1 out of 5 for the skilled? I'm just guessing, but would like to know).

I know true success comes from just sticking to the basics, plowing through the main points of a pickup, and having fun, but it is nice to have some averages to Gage my performance every now and then.

The figures thing is an interesting point, and something I've often considered when thinking about real master of picking up women - it's hard, for example, to imagine the likes of Tim or Tyler Durden ever getting blown out. However, the facts are that even the very best get blown out all the time. Women may not be in the mood to be chatted up, may have a boyfriend, or may be complete bitches, or you may not be in state or enjoying yourself enough or drunk enough or may not want it enough. My point is, rejection can happen for all sorts of reasons.

The best advice I can give you is that, as a relative newbie, you have to accept that you are going to get rejected a hell of a lot. You'll be rejected 100 times to get 1 phone number, and 500 times before you get a shag. The first few times, it'll hurt. You'll doubt yourself, want to give up and sit in a corner nursing your beer. There is no quick solution - this will happen. The best piece of advice we can give you is to keep on going, because sooner or later, you will just stop caring and will even start to enjoy being blown out. I personally find it hilarious sometimes when a woman gives me one of "those" looks or comes out with a really wanky put-down.

The best thing to do is to go out, talk to women, and get rejected and blown out as much as possible. The more you pratice, the less you'll care, the less you'll be rejected and the better you will get. It will come to you, the same as it has for all of us. I used to have that quote from Fight Club as my signature on here - "Without pain, without sacrifice, we have nothing". Go through your pain, make your sacrifices, and you will get what you want out of this. Part of appreciating one's ability to pick up girls is the pain of learning (as is the case with anything - learning the guitar, learning a martial art, learning to drive...).

So what about those pesky close figures you're after? Well, let's go for the basic number close, that's a decent yardstick to put some numbers to. A newbie might get one number in 100 approaches. Someone in your shoes who's off the blocks and getting stuck in might get 1 in 50. After that I can't really say - most guys on here, after starting off with Mystery Method and tactics and techniques slip into more natural game. We don't "approach sets" as such - we talk to everyone in the place, have fun, and do our own thing. Getting girls comes as a natural by-product. On the rare occasion we do do a direct approach, someone like me, having been in this since last July, might get a phone number for every 10 approaches. Some of the really consistent guys on here might get (correct me if I'm wrong) one in 4 or 5. Someone like Tyler Durden or Jeffy might nail it 3/4 of the time.

Numbers aren't important though. Fuck how often everybody else closes. Get out there and find out how much you close. Practice, backwards analyse your performance, learn from your mistakes and put it right. You'll be amazed how quickly you learn with a little perseverance and hard work.

I would echo what mr frog is saying, you don't need to worry about what other people are doing everyone has different styles and ways. Even if you're following canned routines they'll be differences and every woman is different which is why I don't like the hb scoring method (eg hb 9 or hb 8.5).
Try working on your inner game then everything else will follow.
