Default Hola - 29-09-2010, 09:54 PM

Name: Julian
Age: 26
Location: London
Occupation: Consultant
PUA Experience: zero

Wassup. Definately new to this community. Last year became interested in Psychology and Sociology so started leisurely reading into cognitive science, irrationality, happiness, body language, seduction, motivation and random things at a very high-level. Last month typed in 'body language' into iTunes podcasts and stumbled upon the PickUp Podcast, hence I am now dipping my toe into the PUA pool to get a feel but with admittedly much hesitancy.

I don't doubt the validity of the material and principles, moreso I'm not sure if I'd go so far as to meet up with others and 'sarge' (perhaps conservative nature? ego? Sense of embarrassment?).

First instinct is that I can do this on my own based on self-motivation and past experience. Would like to hear if others in the London area felt the same way and what convinced you to take that step and go out for a night with others and/or who in the London area is up for this?

Pickup Issues:
-Fall into the category of good looking guy with mediocre game
-Escalating - Need work perfecting build up of sexual tension
-Closing (not talking number close)

Higher level Issues/work in progress:
-Establishing high-end social circles in the London area
-Leaving those I encounter thinking "that guy was interesting, who the hell was he?"
-Legitimately establishing higher social value (not interested in creating the image)

Goals:
-To build an extensive social and professional circle. Think pickup is a small(ish) subset of that, but I fully believe the underlying principles are applicable to multiple areas of life including but not limited to self-fulfillment, sexual satisfaction, professional development/success, psychological equanimity and family relationships. I will open myself up to potential criticism and say that the PUA community took principles from all these other areas I started reading about and interpreted them into the seduction language (vague on purpose), but admittedly this seems to have become a two-way street and looking back on it, matched my initial intentions.

Assuming the experienced guys are rolling their eyes reading this thinking "here's another one".. which, fair play, but want to be honest in that based on the current development stage that I am in (started building social aspect of my life beginning 2010) I'm looking to connect with others in a similar mindset who are looking for something including but also beyond picking up a corn-fed sorority girl at tiger-tiger.

Would love to hear people's thoughts.

Cheers Guys,
Julian

Welcome!

Nice detailed introduction. As far as meeting up with people from the "pick up scene" I think we grow by jumping in and doing new things, so do it see what it's like and even if it's just a one off you'll grow from it and it will help build a "just do it" attitude which personally I think is very important for success in life.

I've met some cool guys off the forum and I've introduced a number of my mates who've never heard of PUA to guys I've met off here, so for me everything just blends together. I like to meet as many cool people as possible - it's not really a big deal imo. Going by the stuff you're interested you probs find likeminded people inthe PUA scene in London so chances are you'll get on with with a good number of them.

If you're ever up in Manchester give me a shout

All the best!

Anything is possible. Just do it.

Life is what happens while we're busy making other plans.
