Talking Chump from Kent, (still) full of AA - 29-05-2011, 01:21 AM

Been on the forums for a while now, but forgot to introduce myself.

-----

Name's James, 19, from Kent.
I'm at uni so during term time I live in Canterbury, otherwise I'm in Gravesend.

I've read a lot of PUA material, and have a lot of good theory and routines in my head.
But when I go out into the field I freeze under AA. I have had a few times when I overcame my AA (see other posts), but none with successful N-closes or anything else.

Hey everyone!

Hi Matrix and welcome. You're lucky, at 19 you're reading PUA material. It took me until 34 to discover it!

Welcome MatrixMan. Excellent name! I am new here myself and have the same experience for the most part. I'm sure here we can get some great advice. All in it together home slice!

Couldn't agree more with Prime. Good luck mate but most of all enjoy it. Think of it like a video game. You "lose" you go back a stage and start again a little bit wiser. As NLP guys would say - no failure only feedback...

Hey!
How is it? Being older? In comparison to being teens or 20s. Do you think it's different?

Hey Egoboy. Thanks haha. Sadly "Matrix" on its own was taken :P Still, what a fantastic film!
Defo! I've already received some good advice here!
If I'm ever in the Stoke-on-Trent area, I'll be sure to message you :P

Nice little analogy there
Tbh, I find it quite scary. But once I'm in, then it's fun
You say it as if NLP guys are different to the rest of us? Or am I reading that wrong?

Okay then, let me rephrase my sentence:
Do they act/game differently?

I'm still quite naive on the whole NLP thing, but I'm interested.

My interpretation is that consciously or not an awful lot of classic game is derived from nlp. Examples in addition to the one above are the idea that one models excellence - anything one person can do anyone can do so if something works borrow it and use it. Second the idea of State - being in the right mental state to perform excellently and how one can influence one's own mental state. Third the idea of frames and how one can reframe positions or objections to one's advantage (Adam Lyons has some very strong videos about this in youtube and on the U21 site).

Going further into anchoring/influence is probably outside of the mainstream but all of the above is just acquiring a vocabulary and tools to achieve excellent results - in this instance picking up chicks but of equal application to sales, mediation etc...

I think I learned a lot but from it but then I also learned a hell of a lot from a couple of books on eye contact (at which I used to be hopeless) and body language. As I say - its all tools, choose the ones that suit you and that you feel comfortable using. If you don't you lose congruence and that's fatal.
