Something weird is happening to me. You may crack up laughing but here me out.

I saw some Ross Jefferies stuff a few months back. He spoke alot about cold reading and said it's fun to try it even if it's wrong, it keeps the conversation fun. He also says, most of the time he gets it right. He says you get better if you meditate, etc.

So I've done this a few months now. I'm starting to accurately guess names on the first attempt, guess, nationality and jobs/courses. Yesterday I guessed the names of three different girls, out of 5 attempts in total, nearly totally freaking one girl out.

This is strange......explanations?

Mark, you are just doing what traditional chicken sexers do. Which is basically a process of performance, feedback and revision carried out at a largely subconscious level.

Not sure what you mean. I guessed the names instantly, so the only feedback I had was "how did you know?".....I mean this highly improbable and still possible, so this may just be "luck", but I'm doing it more often.

Am I just basically mastering cold reading on an unconscious level, reading tiny social cues. I have spoken to hundreds of girls since I've started this, so this may be a biproduct? Is this happenning to anyone else who goes out alot. And in fact, is this really an "off topic" thread?

Chicken sexing:

Performance: The farmer shows a photo of a day old chick to his son. His son guesses whether the chick is male or female.
Feedback: The farmer tells the son if he is right or not.
Revision: The son's subconscious theory on identifying the sex of a chick is revised to accomodate this new experience.

Eventually the son guesses correctly every single time. However, the difference between a male and female chick at day 1 is in-discernable at a conscious level. Meaning the son can not tell you how he does it, nor can he describe the difference, nor does he consciously know the difference. Only his brain knows the difference.

A chicken sexer gets it right 100 of the time and in a large farm they have to do it 100s of times each day and they never get it wrong. The odds of getting a 50/50 right every time 100 times a day for 30 years or more are significantly lower than getting a few girls' names right
3/5ths of the time.

What you are missing here Adam is that they are not guesses. The human brain is the most impressive pattern recogniser that has ever been known. It is constantly trying to find patterns in the sensory experience available to it, and it does this in ways and at levels that are currently lightyears beyond conception.


Here is another example of how awesome your brain is at knowing things you can never consciously know.

In the dark you can switch off a tap, filling a glass, at exactly the same level of full-ness as you would if you could see what was going on. This is because your brain has logged the pitch curve produced by a recepticle filling up with a fluid every single time it has had the opportunity to do so.

Based off nothing but the changing pitch, your brain holistically calculates the viscocity of the fluid, the speed of the flow, the size of the recepticle and the shape of the recepticle.

The algorithm for calculating this would be trully immense. Far beyond the capabilities of the most advanced computers, let alone your consciously cognitive sensibilities.

Your brain is a beautiful thing and an essential part of you, whatever Tolle says (just try living without one).

i understand the power of the brain, or infact, i think i dont. but hopefully one day i will recognise it myself from direct experience instead of reading.
