There has been speculation for years now. It was either going to be ED4 or a remake of the original. Of coarse the way Hollywood is, it will most likely be reamake.

I believe, since Sam Raimi is no longer going to be involved in the Spiderman films and he has made his fame and fortune, he can do whatever he wants, like Drag Me To Hell.

Sadly, I read somewhere that Bruce Campbell wouldn't be playing Ash. I hope its not true.

I.... am excited.... but very.... apprehensive. Re-makes are way dangerous, you've got a good 90% chance of fucking them up. There have been very few exceptions where a remake has been better than the original: The Fly and Casino Royale spring to mind. Scarface was a remake.

Then again K.

You could say Evil Dead 2 WAS a remake of The Evil Dead....

With you on remakes. When a film is brilliant (e.g. Texas Chainsaw, Psycho, Village of The Damned) the remake is virtually destined to disappoint. I can't think of a great film with a great remake.

They should remake shit films. Like John Carpenter's version of The Thing which is one of my favourite films and the lame L.A. Takedown became the brilliant Heat.

I would classify Evil Dead 2 as a remake. As an exception I think directors often do a good job of remaking their own stuff. There have been quite a few good Japanese horrors where the English language remakes have been just as good as the originals The Grudge for example.

I'd hope that Bruce Campbell is in it. He's irreplacable. With a different actor they'd have to let a different character develop which would completely change the flavour.

Overall though I think, especially after Drag Me To Hell, that he's still got it and whatever he does with it, it'll work.

Peace,

kowalski

The Thing - Now your fucking talking!

Bruce Cambell will most defiantly be in the film, probably more than a bit part. But I think its highly unlikely he will play the lead in a a big budget remake. After all he is the most famous B movie star ever and he is pretty old now. A studio would never have it, some good looking young blood will step up to the plate. Just gotta have faith in Raimi's casting. I mean the lead of Drag Me To Hell was unknown but she was wicked.

Old school geeks like us will miss Bruce, but an ED remake will be targeted to a new audience - teenagers who have never heard or seen the originals. I remeber more details on the interview I read with Bruce Cambell (I was still half asleep this after noon)

He stated he would be involved in some way or another. It wont be remake, scene for scene. It will be an updated story. The synposis is that a group of teens find the cabin in the woods and stumble upon Ash's recordings and the Book Of The Dead. He also said he thought it would be cool if he played a ghost, like in ED2 where that chicks dad appears to warn them about the book.

I guess I could play Ash if they are casting. Afterall I have all the power of...

Have you seen zombieland? He's in that and I was surprised by that film it's a bit cheesey but I thought it was ok

I've written a few sentences trying to describe it but I can't; just watch it.
It's looooong but good some of the cinematography is gorgeous. One of the main guy's British and used to be in some sitcom called game on ages ago. There's a bunch of famous guys but there only in it for a bit, I think the first cut was something ridiculous like 7hours long.

I really didn't like inglorious basterds (although one german character was pretty good but I think that was more down to the actor) and I've found i used to like his films on first viewing but then after a second watch I think he's trying too hard.

You can't really call Casino Royale a remake, the first was a Peter Sellers spy spoof!

My recommendation would be Apocalypse Now (either redux or the original)
When it comes on tv I never want to watch it but if i watch about a minute I have to watch it all. It's got this weird mood about it that sucks me in.
But you've seen it haven't you K but not redux?

Children of Men is pretty good but I'm a sucker for post apocalyptic films.
Shit that reminds me I still haven't seen 'The Road'! Is that still out on general release? (Amazing book btw)

In Bruges is an awesome black comedy/drama thing, Colin Farrell (yes him really) is really good in it.

Anything by Pixar apart from Cars and Bugs life (and maybe the toy stories)
Seriously, the amount of work that goes into those films is daft but that might just be because I did animation at uni

Im not a big horror fan to be honest but i saw [REC] recently and loved it.I think its a bit of a love/hate film as others I have lent it to have been less keen on it.

Just read Let the Right One In which was very good, and should have the film on the way soon - I hear good things about it.

Totally agree with In Bruges comment. Awesome. Probably the most quotable film ever. One of the few films I have watched twice.

Yes! There will be blood is an awesome film. I can't think of an actor that can become a character as powerfully and naturally as Day Lewis at the moment.
Ok first, Tarantino's a pimp!
Second, I can't believe I've only just see this thread I'm a movie maniac!
Ok if I have to choos only the one film I think i'll have to go with One flew over the cuckoos nest, but I will probably change my mind.
There's so many more though, Outlaw of Josey Wales, Twelve Monkeys, Fear and Loathing, As Good as it gets, Bladerunner, Taxi Driver, Deer Hunter, Citizen Cane
saw a good french film called La Haines the other week. Theres a scene in a public toilet that is funny as fuck.

Bumpety bump.

Anyone got anymore good films?

I watched one called 'Once' the other night, featuring Glen Hansard. I thought it was the most wonderfully beautiful film. I actually cried a little at the end of it. Music is amazing as well, and Hansard plays a blinder for someone who isn't such a well established actor.

I guess he's sorta playing himself, which makes it a bit easier. But still an incredible film.

Just get on with it please
