Default Whoever said macs just work is a liar! - 09-03-2010, 03:59 PM

Argh!!!!!

My mac keeps going mental and not in the predictable fixable way a pc does. It randomly makes the keyboard not work in finder, crashes when I open youtube, crashes indesign, forgot that indesign was authorised, randomly selects one function in indesign that you can only do until you restart it, the right click stopped working and the you have to clean wheel ball thing in the "mighty mouse" by pulling it apart and it is now held together with blue tac (their instructions about cleaning it are full of shit)
I'm not some pc loving mentalist either i'm a designer so I should love the thing but I think windows 7 is better.

Arrrrgh!

*end rant

I think they meant "60% of the time Macs work all of the time".

Peace,

I'm using a G5 tower thing and it just goes mental randomly!

So its pretty old then?

you gonna have to troubleshoot every possible angle here. Best taking it to an apple dealer. Macs are notoriously difficult to diagnose problems with.

Have macbook and never have problems with it. Excluding when I dropped and the mac store fixed it for free despite it being a little out of warranty. Sorry hear about your problems but I'd never go back to windows.

Have you tried this?

Haha! great a link to youtube which crashes safari which I mentioned before.
I'm gonna see if work will get me a new one.

I don't want this to turn into a geeky pc vs mac thing but I don't think I would ever buy a mac unless I was loaded and money didn't matter that much.
Macs are good but as jaz says pretty hard to fix, i've done a few things and it's either not worked or fixed things but made things worse. If I break a pc I know why, macs are mental.
I've worked with my dads, ones at uni and now at work. In the past i'd probably have got one if I had the spare cash and didn't want to use it for 3D stuff or games then yes but now the gap's a lot smaller and I don't think they're as versatile as a pc.
