So i been makin music now for a few months.... started wen i got my mac at xmas.

when people start out they make ringtones for tunes, i personaly think for this short a period im smashin it... but i could be DRASTICALLY WRONG

so anyone into dance music have a listen to this i made, still gonna do some dynamics and bits but its primarily the track. let me know honestly what u think & JAZ i would appreciate any production tips mate

Not bad. Have you learnt side-chain compression yet? It's the key to getting a punchy base/snare in dance music - Here's a good example: YouTube - & Down - Boys Noize (compressed to shit, punchy as fuck)

Also. It is so important to master your mix, I can tell you haven't done that as it's quite flat.

Get some tutorials on these aspects and you will be sound.

What plugins are you using?

ive sidechained the base & the main melody, bass on the offbeat tho so its kinda doin nothin anyway. wer doin mixin in college tonight so hopefully should pick some tips up.

Try playing around with the velocity. It makes it sound more free and less processed. Don't really know that type of music but could work well on the claps.

Better. It's getting there. I cant stand the sound of General MIDI tho, was that some of the percussion used?

i dunno what u just said BUT... in college the tutor re vamped it, stripped the bass down, aded more melody layers, showed me where i went wrong etc... sounded SICK

ill upload it wen i get a min.

so im gonna take the original strip all compression eq etc and re mix & play again.
