Woah.. Seriously Phil? What handset do you have?

I spent days ensuring I made an informed decision on the phone I get and consider the Nexus S to be the best thing out there and am paying £35/mo.

Just confirmed with them, on their unlimited plans there is currently no fair use policy though they reserve the right to introduce one if your usage levels are detrimental to other users. It won't last forever, be good while it does though.

Don't think I'm going to find a current user whose SIM I can mess about with for long enough, soon enough. They have a 14 day returns policy where unproven claims of poor signal is an accepted reason for return, so I can play with it at my leisure.

It's the Samsung Galaxy S2. I have one now on T-mobile, I didn't spot they'd reduced their data package till the policy came through. I could handle 1Mg with an additional 1Mg for £5 when needed but this has doubled the rate they charge for data; which is an unacceptably massive price increase. Screw T-mobile, I'm going to return it today and cancel both accounts with them.

Peace,

kowalski

I don't know anything about said partnership I'm just a consumer. I get a text from them and think I'm gonna give them more money in the future. That's about all I know.

Actually I meant you, no idea how I made that mistake though. Apologies.

Ahh, I nearly held out to get an S2, decided to pluck for the Nexus as until Google release an official phone of their own again it'll be the most supported and up to date. The S2 looks like a nice bit of kit though. The Nexus is essentially modelled on the Galaxy line anyway. Dual core phones though man... The future is coming really fast.

I've been playing with it since Friday and it is super-slick. The processor flies and the audio and screen are stunning. The only thing that will struggle is the battery for the demand that I will be putting on it.

There are some pretty innovative solutions to power issues available and even more impressive ones on the horizon; there are chargers in prototype now that can deliver a full charge in about 180 seconds.

Gotta love tech.

What have you been considering when it comes to battery stuff? I removed a bunch of crap from my phone that was overeating battery usage and have my display set to minimum because that thing drinks the battery juice. A three minute charger would be pretty nice to have, will be great once we get those. I'd personally like to see Tesla's work finally go somewhere though personally, it's been crawling forwards and might get there eventually but dammit it's so cool. Wireless energy, just like wireless connectivity except for your gadgets.

One day...

A couple of docks (home and office) that hold a charged spare. Fuck the present let's talk about the future some more.

I've been reading about a company (lost their name) who have produced glass for the next generation of smartphones with invisible solar cells in, which totally impressed me as solar glass has huge application once costs are reduced ... but then I saw this: http://preecorp.com/news/tag/preecharge A device sleeve that charges using the energy in all the high frequency transmissions that surround us in the modern world. Sick shit.

Also, someone showed me some youtube clips of 3D printing today, that's major impressive.

kowalski
