Default Name Change - 16-05-2011, 07:15 PM

Just to say, my name has officially changed to what you see now.

I thought using my real name is a bit, you know, crap.

And as I plan on being a long term user of this site, I got it changed

Thanks to the admins!

What exactly is crap about real names? Why does it matter exactly?

There have been a few people over the years who have realized using their full name might not be for the best.

Do you not think that everything people do here is a significant part of who they are? Hiding that shows shame or fear of being exposed for who you are. Given that the general goal most people seek is to not give a fuck I think that's pretty contradictory behaviour. People claiming to be "alpha" while also seeking to hide a significant part of their life and who they are is ridiculous.

Another reason I've seen is people believing they are somehow less manly or inadequate because of taking part in communities like this, also contradictory to being "alpha".

I don't think that having an online persona nickname is hiding a significant part of your life.

But even if it was, is it really shameful to be semi-anonymous (meaning that everyone on the outside world doesn't know who you are on this forum), on this forum?

Quite a few people let out their darkest feelings online to a bunch of people they don't know, and a lot of those are feelings they wouldn't want to share with people they know personally (This is what I'm assuming).
