Default Tablets - 19-05-2011, 09:30 AM

I'm talking those things supposedly better than Netbooks.

Anyone here have a tablet? I'm thinking of getting a Motorola Xoom instead of a regular laptop/ pc.

Does anyone have useful insight to aid me on my purchasing decision?

I got an ipad, don't use it half as much as my laptop though. Loved for it for the first month, novelties worn off now, sucks that you can't use flash on it.

do tablet owners not find it frustrating not to be using a proper physical keyboard?

I touch type and my hands become a blur like Neo in The Matrix who is a known touch-typist (the first half of that sentence is true)

Tablets are no way a replacement for laptops yet.

Yeah, iPads are cool, but I don't think I'd use it for anything more than my iPod touch gets used for.

Motorola Xoom is just an android tablet. What would you possibly use it for? Some of the apps may be quite good on android, but its no match for its competition with respect to quality apps in my opinion. The Xoom is just an expensive android tablet, just buy an android phone and its win win for that.

I would suggest one of these new netbooks with a screen that flips over to be used like a tablet, or one where the screen detaches, as I think they can run Windows 7 (or linux or whatever).

Windows 7 is not designed for tablets, due to the high processing power required for it all. Windows 8 will be designed for use on ARM chips found in most tablets.

Other than the Xoom it would be the Inspirion Duo which is half and half...

Roody I definitely think you should go with that half and half Inspirion Duo, Android just won't get you anywhere

I like Android and think its cool. Just not for every day productivity, its nowhere near as powerful as a Windows or other OS like linux

I bought a Chinese iPad knock off last year. Cost me 35 quid.

It's android based and slow as fuck but it does everything I want. That of course being an ebook/pdf/comic reader and it does so handsomely!

Fuck the man roodie. Get into the fun world counterfeit goods!

I'm not a tech nerd but I just can't see where tablets would fit into my working day. I don't need something between my excellent macbook and my shit iphone. Each to his own tho.

I have an old Samsung Q1 tablet and if anything its more of a ball ache, to do anything productive i need to plug in a USB keyboard and mouse! Even just to browse this forum is draining. If I were you I'd invest it in a decent laptop and be done with it...
