Default Giving serious thought to moving back up north? - 25-11-2011, 10:22 PM

I spoke 2 my boss today about my chances of getting a permanent position after my six months probation is up in january. He didnt give a yes/no answer but i could tell it probs wasnt good
So ive got to thinking about moving back to Carlisle Cumbria where im originally from (came down to northants in the early 90s with my parents).
Ive got no girlfriend anymore my sister lives in the next town over but i rarely see her,my flats lease is up at the end of february,so its got potential.Heres the pro and cons in my eyes.

pros

.Its a city!! over 101,000 people and a fair bit more to do that here 40-45,000

.Complete new start no bad memories of the past or people around who know my past

.More people = more chance to gain social feedback, tho not the biggest or bussiest city its got 1-2 uni campuses and at worst would do till maybe i could afford a move to Newcastle or sumat dno??

.got family there so surely someone would put me up for a bit

.cost of living is cheaper

.Scenery, fell walking and 30 miles from the sea not bad

cons

.cold and rainy and i hate the cold and rain.hence was originally aiming to move south

.dont know the job situation up there, its pretty dire here so it must be just as bad up there.Plus job hunting whilst nearly 300 miles away is hard at best.any long term un empolyment would be a disaster tbh

.I dont know anyone or have any friends there anymore

.seems to be just as far away from people on this forum as where i am now
I dont know most of my family very well tbh only seen them a few times at best since i moved down south

.dont want to live with my parents again

thats all i can think of for now.Any advice from people who have moved and or advice would be great

Don’t think about rejection shouldn’t even enter your head, don’t think about it, just do it, no hesitations. Talk to her.

It’s the only way to get good

If you are looking for escape don't do it. I would rather say move to Aus or NZ for couple of years. That would be a good decision and a good change.

Amit im not looking for escape ie not running away. But it should be a fairly easy move and if i lose my job i cant afford to live in my flat so id have to do sumat pretty drastic.I would move to Oz or Nz but im flat broke!! So no chance of that i would consider it as a long term goal. But right now im staying in Blighty.

Well in that circumstances moving to Carlisle is a good decision. At least you will get change in scenery and a fresh slate to start with.

Good question there K??
Ive not seriously thought about where id like to live??
Somewhere by the sea or with a large Goth chick population.....Brighton,Nottingham,London,Long beach California,Scandanavia??
Somewhere abroad would have to be put down as a long term plan tho maybe aim to be living somewhere i really want to within the next 10yrs??
However i dont see a UK relocation being to difficult to do within a year providing i keep this job and get the money to fix my car!!

do it. Travel and live elsewhere while you can. As you get older you're (likely) to be tethered to things like jobs, relationships, houses, etc. that restrict you.

Experience the world in as many ways while you can.
