I’ve seen Paul McKenna both bashed and praised in recent post’s I want to share my insights.

Paul McKenna and hypnosis in general works on a subconscious level. If you listen to it consciously and make conscious decisions regards it, it does indeed sound like snake oil.

But where do the decisions we make come from? Who's to say the subtle little changes you make in day to day life don’t add up? After isnt that how evolution works?

I've done a little experimenting recently by listening some of Paul McKenna hypnosis mp3s for one whole month.

At first I didn’t notice any difference but as I look back now at some things I’ve done, the things I started reading and writing about. The odd idea scribbled on a post it I made or the things I’ve found myself saying to people.

Well today I had a massive moment of crystallization. I feel as if something huge clicked into place. Right now I've never felt more driven or creative in my life.

I did not feel this way a month ago, far fucking from it.

(btw Huge post to follow on where Eckhart Tolle gathered his ideas from, how I see what he's getting at, and hopefully trying to explain his concepts in a coherent way without all the mystical bollocks)

Just got through his 'Instant Confidence' book and I am listening to the CD daily (since Sunday), I feel like it is helping so far. Not been out properly yet to see how it has affected AA so we will see.........

This tool sells multiple techniques which require incommensurable mechanisms. The unifying factor between all his shit is the true mechanism at work in any of it - belief.

Things he sells 'work' if you believe they do. They do not work the way he says they work and he knows this. Therefore, as he sells one thing presented as another he is a con-man by definition.

dunno kowalski, NLP works... not coz richard bandler says so, but coz the way the human brain splits language and puts it together- its an un-natural function is language, words have meaning to us, a word can bring up a thought etc.

if u have seen Deren brown LIVE u cant argue the point.

his books work not coz of what he tells u to do, but the RIDICULOUS amount of suggestion throughout his texts.

and if u disagree nlp works i honestly cannot be assed with a full on debate we will just agree to disagree.

the cd is a waste of time, marketing tool mate.

I have finished the book now, tried to find time to listen to the CD every day. I thought the CD was repeating a lot of things that were in the book mixed in with some (what I thought was) suggestive hypnosis.

Some useful stuff in there. Like every time you hear yourself mentally talking negatively to yourself you tend to notice it more and snap yourself out. I also liked the idea of imagining a more confident you stood/sat in front of you, noticing what they do/how they act and then just being that person. I have used the techniques in my new job this week, hopefully this weekend I'll see how much more confidence I have with regard to PU and specifically AA. I'm already feeling fired up and more confident though so I would urge anyone reading this thread to reserve judgement for Paul McKenna and his techniques until they have had a go themselves.

No, Phil. NLP does not work. Anything in NLP that does work is borrowed from other areas. Nothing specifically from NLP works.

That has nothing to do with my point though, Phil.


NLP and say EFT are incommensurable you can't sensibly believe both work the way they are proposed to work yet both are sold by this guy who is, therefore, a scammer. Even if some of the stuff he peddles is effective.

i dont... i think alot of it is bollocks so let me rephrase.

Language patterns work.... Hypnosis & conversational hypnosis work... synesthesia and mental image & emotional promotion / response through language work... suggestion vocal & touch works

the rest is pretty much crap

and id never heard of EFT untill now OMFG

there is some crap out there but that takes the piss
