Yes there is a lot of crud in there... but there are a couple of really good take aways from it that i found, hence the initial post.
1) i am greatful to be me!
.... an obvious one, but for 30 years of my life this wasn't the case and a couple of serious drunken considerations at suicide is testiment to that.
2) focus on the positive things in life rather than the negatives, even almost discount them from your reality.
... again, going though the last 30 years with the voices in my head saying "your usless", "your ugly", "your shit with women", "people are always making fun of you" etc etc rather than actually look at what i've acheived and the contridictions to those message.
There are a couple of other, but its the same with anything, you take away small piece of everything you read / watch / listen to which impact you the most and discount the rest.
Peace
Retro
Today is the beginning of my new life, I am starting over today, All good things are coming to me, I am grateful to be alive.

Thinking positively is good but that is not the same thing as believing the secret, which is what I'm attacking. It's like when you the hear people saying 'the Kray twins might have been psychopathic murdering crimelords, but they loved their mum and that's something we can all learn from', whereas the OP is more like just saying 'we should all follow the example of the Kray twins'.
There are plenty of sources we can turn to that promote positive thinking without the crazy and dangerous shit this is preaching. Try Napoleon Hill's Think and Grow Rich, a classic in the field.
The bible has some positive messages mixed in with the racism, homophobia, incitement to war, contradictions, mechanisms of control, nonsensical ontology etc. etc. Overall it is more harmful to believe the bible than not believe it, so I'm not about to promote it to others without caveating heavily that on the whole it is false and dangerous to believe in. In fact I wouldn't even promote it with caveats, I'd direct people to something with a positive message without the bullshit.
Peace,
kowalski

Haha! Wasn't expecting that!
"Is it wrong for a man to love his guitar?"
"It is if he puts his balls between the strings, and strums himself to ecstasy!"

If hes happy he can ignore what everyone else thinks. Its like a guy wearing a stupid hat that he really likes, he likes it so it doesn't matter if the hat is stupid or not.

Not where fact is concerned. You can happily believe you can shoot yourself in the face with a shotgun and nothing bad will happen. Something bad will still happen.

The secret bears all of the hallmarks of classic 'brainwashing' bullshit, much like most religious bullshit: it carries the necessity that you believe it for it to work. If you don't believe in the fairy, then it can't exist. This proves as a great defence against scientific analysis: it failed for you 'cos you didn't believe in it!
There are two reasons for this books success:
1. Calling a product 'the secret', which will make all your dreams come true, but you just have to buy and read it first, is a merketing success. Human curiosity and the endless search for the 'magic bullet' to cure all our problems will sell a product in the millions.
2. Believing, and having faith in the book will actually cause significant improvement in your life, and you probably will experience success. Focusing on your goals, dismissing negativity, and basing each decision you make on how it will help you reach your goals will work. In fact, over the last few years I have done just this and I've been hugely successful in my career. The fact that the book say's this is the universe is almost irrelevant. The only relevant point is that you believe it.

See I don't believe this for a minute man, but we both know that a belief such as " I can have anything I want i in life if I focus on it" is truly great regardless of the pseudo-spirituality!!! Whether they believe Santa Clause is making their focus a Reality or pixies from beyond Neptune are taking care of their every need doesn't really matter. Its the belief that matters!
Personally I think this is a pseudo-spiritual take on Attraction Code type material (not purposely of course)!!
Have a string intent and focus on what you wish to happen !!!!!, and it will come to you
