As defined in MM a neg is designed to lower the girl's value.

If you are intending to lower value it is a neg, if you are just saying shit because it is who you are it is not a neg.

If your approach was greeted by cocky comments, would you neg the girl using them?
On nights-out I've noticed some girls are extremely cocky but it's not like they're rejecting you. They don't turn away or tell you to get lost, they're just cocky to everything you say and behave like she's the centre of the universe.
But it's more like they want to keep you around but to mess with you. It's quite subtle and they're probably gunning for a free drink or something at this point.

dont neg, if a girl is bein a nob head, just say... sorry i was so rude & just kill her with kindness and move on.

u only wanna be talkin to girls who you can enjoy a convo with..

no matter how fit she is, if its borin it borin & the fit will last all of 5 mins.

A neg is supposed to lower her perceived value to you by false disqualification and that can be done without any insult or slight of character e.g. "you have amazing genes, if you had an older sister I'd definitely date her" (this one works well for me since I'm an old git). You just have to pick a disqualifier that isn't a general criticism. If done well the neg is actually a backhanded complement.

Take Mysterys favourite neg: "if I wasn't gay Id be so into you". It disqualifies and compliments at the same time.

I think alot of people confuse negs with David D style cocky/funny piss taking (which is also designed to lower her value).
