Lightbulb Presence is King - 17-09-2009, 10:50 PM

I'm probably saying something you all already know but it’s only since I've been part of this community that I've really started to think about it.

There are 1500 people working at my place with a 50/50 male/female split. I'd say roughly 2% are anything above Hb2 (Derby is a shitty ugly place). However I work as a trainer so I have steady contact with the women.

I have to command a groups attention and be interesting for anything up to a full day and that is pretty hard work. I tend to get a few female followers although have to be careful as to maintain a professional image. One of the girls that works for me told me yesterday that all the girls in her group were dead excited when they found out I was paying a visit (there's 7 in this group)

I'm a completely different character in the training room to normal life in terms of my use of intonation when speaking, my body language and my physical presence alter’s a lot as well. I’m also a bit of a comedian which helps keep them focused on me. Anyhows the comment has been made a few times that I have a lot of presence in the training room, this from both males and females.

Maybe if I think of the training group as my mixed set then sarging in the field will feel more natural as well if I cross the skills over. Presence really does seem to to win the day and this easy as I feel totally confident in that setting.

I am more writing my thoughts more then anything but please comment as you wish.

Get in the club tell yourself I know the drill and get on wiv it
The only reason why you're different at work and at the bar/club is that at work you know the drill n just do it n u don't fear these ppl.
On the other hand at the bar at the club you look at that 500 pound gorilla that fits very nicely in that dress n u start getting nervous n thus u don't think of it as 'just a drill' anymore

like Hustler25 says everything you need to know about live/women is in rock n roll.

anyhow hope i was of some help mate

ps: for an extra confidence boost you could put some of your favourite upbeat tunes and jsut dance, or maybe if you're more intellectual remember a quote from a book or just do a few press ups

My shallowness is only skin deep

Hustler's sig always makes me wonder why he's here.

Anywho, yes presence is pretty much everything. Ask yourself why you are so cool in the training room but not in other areas of your life. At work you have been put in a leadership role. It is not real. There is nothing that actually changes within you when you walk through that door.

You feel in the training room that you have been given permission to be this awesome guy. However, no-one can really give you permission to be awesome except yourself. Even if I tell you now to go be awesome, you still decide whether you are going to actually be awesome or not.

Thing is you know how to be a cool fucker. You do it everyday when you walk through the training room door. You think it has something to do with that door? That room? Those things are nothing, they can't touch you. The room is meaningless. You give yourself permission to be that cool fucker. Give yourself permission all the time.

There's a piece in The Blueprint where Tyler talks about all the instructions you have inside you. Instructions on how to be the dutiful son, the angry complainer, the helpfull customer service employee and, yes, the cool fucker.

He says you should think of it like flying a plane. You have the instructions but your brain won't give you access to them so just tell your brain 'I'm gonna fly this plane anyway. So you either give me the instructions or we are going to crash'. Then just go for it. Your brain will eventually give you the instructions unrestrictedly, so that you can access them whenever you need them. Not just when you walk through a meaningless door at work.

Peace,

kowalski
