It is a word you use to follow up a comeback and cement the victory.

Used especially for, but not restricted to, when someone makes an extremely witty comment about you and you come back with something utterly lame like 'Yeah ... well ... you smell. ZING!!!'

The ZING!!! ends the interaction and you always win. A ZING!!! is final.


It's appropriate anytime.

Specific to being Awesome Socially: if you're out and someone is tooling you, is too witty or if your brain just is not firing it can be employed as a 'get-out-of-jail-free' line. Make the lamest comeback then get up in their shit and hit them with a ZING!!!

Nearly everyone instinctively gets it when exposed to a ZING!!!

Everyone laughs, you win the trash-talk battle, you have demonstrated memetic high-value, it was all so easy.

We used to use it at school. You know when you go up behind someone and jab them in the kidneys? At the very moment of the jab, you shout ZING!

It made one guy piss himself. Honest to god.

I must admit I prefer the more widely used and understood TOUCHÉ!

But the concept is the same.

TOUCHÉ is what a person says after receiving an insult a ZING is different I think it carries more weight

Touche is completely differently. Touche is a submission rather than a killer blow.

You don't say 'Touche' after you have ripped someone. The person you've just ripped has to accept defeat and then they say 'Touche' themselves as an admission of this defeat.

Furthermore, the key to a ZING!!! is that it can be employed after a particularly poor comeback, instantly turning it into an irreversible final blow.

You wouldn't say, of your own shitty remark, 'Touche'.
